Holistic therapy
Traditionally therapy looks only at the present problem and addresses that. For example, when you throw out your back. You might see a chiropractor or a physical therapist who will look at and address the back pain, but they don’t look any deeper into your life.
Holistic therapy looks at you as a whole and sees how one area of your life may be impacting other areas. The way that we approach holistic therapy is by using the 8 Dimensions Model.
This model suggests that life can be divided into 8 different categories or dimensions. Each dimension relies on the others to achieve balance and harmony in life.
Physical
Physical wellness accounts for a variety of things that influence your physical health including skin care, nutrition, exercise, disease, disease prevention, ergonomics, and more.
Environmental
Environmental wellness considers the state of your immediate environment, as well as your impact on the environment as a whole. Some factors include cleanliness, eco-friendly considerations, water conservation, recycling, and the use of sustainable products.
Emotional
Emotional wellness encompasses the ability to identify, acknowledge, and process emotions. Humans are emotional beings. While handling life’s stress in positive ways is one big area, it is important to consider the many other emotions as well.
Financial
Financial wellness includes all aspects pertaining to finances including knowledge of systems, financial planning, and managing finances.
Occupational
Occupational wellness considers your personal satisfaction relating to your job or career.
